PURPOSE
- To provide a positive, bright work environment and office space within a 32 unit commercial building, which also acts as a showcase for Buck O’Neill Builders’ exquisite work
- Optimum working environment in which employees are able to perform at their best, with the advantage of a unique air filtration system (interior bio-filter/living wall)
- Allowance for the usage of a logical, coherent, user-friendly work area in an intriguing, eye-pleasing surrounding
|
PROCESS
- Creation and installation of an interior bio-filter/living wall
- Cubicles were faced with reclaimed house sheathing that was removed and recycled from a Buck O’Neill Builders’ project
- Floating stair tread material was reclaimed from northern California
- Custom “end grain” landing was reclaimed from a mill in British Columbia
- Highly skilled local metal work for the production of the railing that ascends to the upper mezzanine
- Starfire glass allows the space to feel much bigger and also not take away from the beauty of the floating stairway
- Paperstone countertops throughout provide the best writing surface and allow for non absorption of “glass rings”
- Kitchen cabinets made from recycled teak and fabricated with the grain running horizontal to allow for the sense of a larger room
- With east-facing unit allowing for morning sun and full insulation by being surrounded by units on all sides, energy costs are kept low
- Custom sink in bathroom, by Bruce Tomb Studio
- Upgraded plumbing and electrical throughout
- Power monitoring capabilities for entire office
- Each work station has the capability of controlling its own temperature and lighting
- Seeking LEED Gold certification
